Description
Patriot 12U Rack Case Overview
The Skydyne Company built the Patriot 12U Rack Case to house and transport electronic equipment. This equipment includes but is not limited to professional audio, video, and networking devices. The “12U” designation refers to the vertical rack space available in the case, a standard measurement used in the industry. Each rack unit (U) is 1.75 inches (44.45 millimeters) in height.
Many users favor fiberglass cases for their durability, lightweight properties, and resistance to environmental factors like moisture and extreme temperatures. They provide a secure and protective enclosure for valuable and sensitive equipment while being relatively easy to transport. One’s use of a 12U fiberglass case may vary depending on the industry and application.
For this Patriot 12U Rack Case, Skydyne incorporates polypropylene foam insulation. Additionally, Skydyne isolates the aluminum rack with elastomeric isolators to protect against vibration. Additionally, Skydyne includes removable swivel casters with this 12U case for ease of transportation. Skydyne designed this 12U rack case to be modular. It comes with an ancillary case which can stand alone or be connected to this case.
12U Case Use Examples
Here are some common uses for 12U fiberglass cases:
- Server and Network Equipment: 12U rack cases house servers, network switches, and other IT equipment in a secure and organized manner. Frequently, IT professionals use these cases for mobile server setups or temporary networking solutions.
- Audio Equipment: Musicians and sound engineers use 12U cases to store and transport audio equipment, including rack-mounted amplifiers, equalizers, and signal processors.
- Video Equipment: Video production crews use these cases to store and transport video switchers, monitors, and video recorders. Also, they utilize 12U cases for other rack-mounted video equipment needed for live events or on-location shoots.
- Broadcasting Equipment: Broadcasters and radio stations use 12U cases to house broadcasting equipment like audio mixers, microphone preamps, and audio processors for remote broadcasts or mobile production setups.
- Laboratory and Testing Equipment: Scientists and engineers use 12U cases to transport and protect delicate yet mobile testing and measurement equipment.
- Telecommunications Equipment: Quite often, telecommunications technicians use 12U cases to house and transport rack-mounted telecom equipment like patch panels, power distribution units (PDUs), and switches for installations and maintenance.
- Security and Surveillance Equipment: Furthermore, these cases store and transport rack-mounted surveillance equipment, such as DVRs, NVRs, and power supplies.
- Military and Aerospace Applications: In military and aerospace industries, 12U cases protect and transport sensitive electronic equipment in challenging environments.
- Stage and Event Production: Additionally, workers within the entertainment industry house lighting controllers, audio processors, and other equipment needed for live performances and events within 12U cases.
- Trade Shows and Exhibitions: Finally, companies often use these cases to transport and set up interactive displays and product demos at trade shows and exhibitions.
