ATA Plus Chinook Teardown Cases
The ATA Plus Chinook Teardown Cases were developed by the Skydyne Company, in conjunction with Chinook operators and maintenance personnel, to aid in the tear down and deployment procedure of the CH/MH-47 Helicopter.
Case History
Chinook operators were encountering a problem. Typically, components removed from the Chinook during strategic airlift and tear down were being bubble wrapped and placed in a cardboard box for transport. Unfortunately, once arriving at their destination, the components were hard to locate, identify, and were sometimes damaged. However, once Skydyne began working closely with these operators, Skydyne was able to develop a rugged and easily transportable storage solution. Within the ATA Plus Chinook Teardown Cases, all components are secured and easily identified. Now, according to one operator, “components are no longer damaged, and the aircraft teardown/build-up process has become more efficient.”
Case Description
Skydyne manufactures these helicopter cases using its heavy duty ATA Plus™ construction. The wall panels of these cases are made using honeycomb plastic/polypropylene. Skydyne fabricates custom polyethylene foam inserts to safely and securely house each chinook component in transit. Case 1 can be stacked on case 2 using the incorporated stacking feet. Also, case 2 includes quick release/removable casters. Finally, Skydyne equips each case with its recessed clamps and handles. The outside dimensions for case 1 are as follows: 56.75” W x 50” L x 14.50” H, and it weighs approximately 118 lbs. The outside dimensions for case 2 are 56.75” W x 50” L x 21.75” H, and it weighs approximately 156 lbs.
Additionally, custom sizes and configurations are available for each case and foam insert. Finally, if you need more information or would like a quote, please contact our sales team at cases@skydyne.com.
